Crossing the Washington Side of the Gorge

Looking down from the bluffs on the Washington side of the Columbia River

Before checking out of fire hazard Tucker Campground, we decided to explore the other side of river, which  forms a natural boundary between Washington state and Oregon.  On the Washington side in the town of White Salmon, there are many houses built along the bluff.  We were curious to see those neighborhoods and how the houses could be built so close to the edge of the cliff.

We also discovered where all the wind-surfers were  hanging out.  A clearing along the river on the Washington side made a perfect spot for launching.

We both agreed that building a house on a cliff is not for us.  We prefer low ground.
