Fourth Stop-Wal-Mart, WA

Finn-Finn Faroo!

No RV road trip is complete without a sleep over at a Wal-Mart parking lot. Weary RV travelers and truckers can actually park overnight in Wal-Mart's parking lots. We spent our final night on the road parked at the very edge of the Wal-Mart parking lot in Washington trying to look inconspicuous. Behind us was a trucker and to the side were a few people in a car who looked like they had just come from Burning Man.

I learned my lesson and did not wear a nightie to bed, but rather slept in my clothes. Nothing like waking up in the morning in your nightie and opening the shade next to a lady loading her groceries.

The other downside (and there are many) is that there is no bathroom or showers for the parking lot travelers. Walking into the store and saying hello to the greeter, smoothing down my bedhead hair, and asking nonchalantly for directions to the bathroom is not exactly an ideal camping experience.  Ah, well.  Hood River was just an hour or two away.

  1. BAAAAHHH!! this is so funny. You should do a trip where you ONLY stay at Wal-mart parking lots and collect all the silly stories you can ! Like why don't you walk into the Wal-mart in the morning in slippers and a robe??!! That would be awesome.

  2. I'm tempted to, believe me. I'm always afraid we're going to get kicked out, but Staff promises to talk to any mean security guards so I can hide my cowardly self and watch from inside the trailer.
